What’s going on, J1sters! Everything seems to be coming up 90s as I just learned about something big that will make many of us happy. It has been 30 years since the Gargoyles took flight into our weekday afternoons. Since the series’ end, there has been recent rumors of a possible revival of the series. Well, after much time to rumors have been put to rest. In a podcast hosted by Johnathan Frakes and Brent Spiner from “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” Spiner, known for his role as Data in the series, confirmed that Gargoyles is getting a new animated series, much to Frakes’ surprise. Spiner confirmed that he received the news before the podcast. For those who do not know (or may not remember) Johnathan Frakes portrayed super-rich philanthropist David Xanatos, the man responsible for bringing Goliath and his clan to New York City. Brent Spiner voiced the mischievous imp Puck in the series. Several Star Trek TNG alums had roles in Gargoyles including Michael Dorn, Mirina Sirtis and LeVar Burton.

The Gargoyles’ adventures continued via comic books that expanded upon their universe, creating wild stories for the characters. In one instance, they encounter the Fantastic Four in a surprise crossover that fans weren’t expecting. Another example is Brooklyn’s time traveling adventure that takes him out of the present for him to eventually return much older with a mate and child in tow. Brent’s reveal raises hopes for fans who have been waiting for the Gargoyles’ return. In 2023, a live action version of the series was announced for Disney+, to be produced by Atomic Monster. If all goes well and this news bears any fruit, we could finally see Keith David’s return as Goliath. Fingers crossed.
