• J1-CON

J1-Con was (and still is) the LARGEST and LONGEST-RUNNING Black-Owned anime convention in the WORLD, as well as the LARGEST and LONGEST-RUNNING that the city of Philadelphia has ever had! Since 2018 though, it has moved to the Showboat Hotel in Atlantic City and sits as one of the longest running anime conventions in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

J1-Con is short for J1 Studios Convention. J1 Studios is a multi-award-winning production company that makes, comics, novels, games and music. J1 Studios is known for working with studios such as Studio YGKrow, and SPOOF Animation to develop animations, including the award-winning short film “Ajaka: Lost In Rome” with SPOOF Animation.

J1-Con’s focus is to spotlight the indie scene of artists, writers, animators, musicians, as well as game developers, by bringing various creators from those industries to provide EDUTAINMENT!

  • J1-Con won “Convention Of The Year” at the Do You Speak Geek Awards in 2023
  • J1-Con was listed as one of “The Five Most Talked About Events In Philly” by CBS Philly in 2016
  • J1-Con was nominated for “Event Of The Year” at the Philly Geek Awards in 2015
