Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake is buried by Ubisoft along with other projects!!

Well fellow gamers, if you were like me and have been anticipating the return of one of the most beloved platform games, then we can rest uneasy. Ubisoft has announced that they will not be moving forward with the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time Remake due to changes in the company infrastructure. Besides Sands of Time, six other projects have also been lost to the sands, three of those were new IPs while one was a mobile game. In a move that not even the Dagger of Time cannot undo, unknown seven titles have also been delayed and two of their studios will face closure followed by layoffs. The only bright spot is that the remaster of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is still on the table, allegedly. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait for the coming fiscal year for that announcement – so, sometime before March 31, 2027. Ubisoft says their focus moving forward will be on open world games and live services.

The two studios getting the memo are Ubisoft Stockholm, who worked on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and mobile studio Ubisoft Halifax while restructuring is happening at their offices in Adu Dhabi, Trials studio Redlynx and Massive, home of The Division. However, there is good news. Many of their big titles including Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six will be handled by “Creative Houses” that will be dedicated to specific titles within the company. For example, one of these houses will focus on Ubi’s shooter titles such as Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell while another will be dedicated to narrative and fantasy driven series which include Might & Magic, Rayman, Beyond Good & Evil and, surprising, Prince of Persia. Hmm, I guess you’d be soft not to continue to support one of your best loved series.
