Marty Mar, this is your week in our COSPLAY SPOTLIGHT!!
Why do you cosplay?
Because it’s a very good experience & you can get to dress up as your childhood heroes & more. You also can meet up with other good cosplayers that work hard with their costumes. You can get to pretend to be your favorite character & works on different arts & crafts. This year was my first time cosplay at Philadelphia Comic Con & I enjoyed it!
What was your first cosplay?
My first cosplay was Franklin from GTA V. Everyone from my Facebook pages recommended me to cosplay this character because I looked just like him lol.So I listened to all of my fans & became Franklin at Comic Con.Then before I left Comic Con, I took a picture for the Facebook costume contest. I didn’t win,but that didn’t matter because I have fun dressing up as my character & meeting up with other cosplayers.
Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?
Who is your favorite character to play?
Since DBZ is my favorite anime show,I would like to do more DBZ cosplays. I also would like to do more GTA V Franklin cosplays since my fans said I did good on that cosplay. Here’s the comic con votes for my GTA cosplay:https://www.facebook.
Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?
My childhood of watching a lot of movies, cartoon, anime & playing video games is my biggest inspiration for cosplay.I ever watched the cosplayers on Youtube & look at their photos on Facebook. Living Ichigo is & Jessica Nigri is one of my favorite cosplayer. Living Ichigo’s DBZ cosplays motivates me to start cosplaying. Also my Facebook fans & other pages also inspires me to do cosplay & watches other anime TV shows. Here’s my other fan page:https://www.facebook.com/
Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?
Yes, the temperature & weather can be a great mistake to your cosplay. I was very hot & sweating because I have to wear a long-sleeve shirt for my cosplay & it’s was about 90 degrees outside. The size of your cosplay is a problem too.I bought a shirt that was my size, then I try it on & it was very tight.Otherwise, my cosplay was fine & worked very well.
Are there certain characters that are easier to cosplay as than others?
For first time cosplayers like me, I suggest to cosplay as a GTA character. GTA characters dressed up like a normal person & you can find their dressing gear anywhere in store like Macy’s Old Navy, Ross & etc. As a GTA cosplayer, you can cosplay alone or as a group. Example: Cosplay as Micheal, Franklin & Trevor from GTA V in a heist costume:http://images.
