Before the team can leave to capture Fridge escapee Marcus Daniels, they are given a polygraph to test their loyalty.

One of the escaped prisoners arrives at the deck where he displays the power to absorb electricity. Ward tells the team about the break in at the Fridge and how he defended the maximum prison. Coulson wants to dispatch the team to apprehend the escaped convicts including a dangerous man named Marcus Daniels; however, they are subjected to a polygraph test before they can leave. Once they are cleared, they find a woman named Audrey who used to be Daniels’ girlfriend and rescue her from Daniels. Coulson and Fitz confront Daniels only to be knocked back by the cosmic energy within Marcus. Daniels escapes before Coulson and Fitz recover. Back at the base, Skye and Ward decide to hack into the NSA satellites that were near the Fridge during the break in. At a disclosed location, Audrey tells Simmons and Trip about her story with Daniels and how Coulson saved her. Fitz has devised a way to stop Daniels for good and wants the use Audrey to lore Daniels out, but Coulson objects. Understandably clear that Coulson will not forgive her, Melinda May leaves on her own. Skye gets the images up on screen and Ward tells her that May left. Meanwhile, Coulson, Fitz, Simmons and Trip execute their plan to trap Daniels. Daniels arrives at the theatre where Audrey is playing her cello. The team uses the devices Fitz created to overload Daniels and kill him. At the base, Skye learns the awful truth about Grant Ward.

With their world turned upside down, Coulson races to save the life of his one true love.

With their world turned upside down, Coulson races to save the life of his one true love.

This is one of the more dramatic episodes of “Agents” focusing on the tensions within and between team members. Coulson is still not quick to forgive Melinda May for keeping him in the dark about her orders from Nick Fury to keep watch over him. Not even her passing a polygraph test is enough to convince him. But Coulson gets a wakeup call when he has to save the life of his one true love Audrey from an escapee from the Fridge named Marcus Daniels. Hearing Audrey’s recall the first day she met Coulson and how she wanted to spent her life with him stirred up something in Phil. She would forgive Coulson even if he revealed that he is alive. Realizing this, Phil decides to give May a chance. It would make sense since he needs as many trustworthy people as he can get. The issue of trust filters over to Fitz and Simmons. Fitz still has strong feeling for Simmons but he became jealous when he witnessed how chummy Simmons as being with Agent Trip who is as knowledgeable in the science field as Fitz. Sadly, the poor bastard can’t gather the right words to say to Jemma and tell her how he feels. When he was subjected to polygraph test, Fitz admitted to one question that he would want to be with Simmons if he were stranded on an island. I don’t know about anyone else but that would’ve been my money shot. How unfortunate that Fitz only thinks in zeroes and ones. Melinda took Coulson’s advice and hit the road. After failing numerous times to regain Coulson’s trust in her, she decides to hit the bricks and calls the last person she has trust in—her mother. May is aware of how bad she has hurt Phil and probably feels worse for betraying him. But she had her orders, no matter how bad they stunk. Ruining the faith of the one person she truly cared about proved too much for her to handle. She can take on super-powered soldiers and get thrown into a brick wall by Mike Peterson but hurting someone’s feeling is something she cannot handle. Hopefully May doesn’t stay away too long.

However the biggest hurt happens to Skye when she discovers that Ward is a part of H.Y.D.R.A. At first, he seemed like he was doing all right. He lied about helping defend the Fridge from H.Y.D.R.A. He lied about killing John Garret. And he lied about completely giving a crap about everyone else on the team including Skye. Grant strings Skye along in his mission to acquire the encryption codes to her hard drive. Of course Skye follows along until she finds Agent Eric’s body and she is mortified that Ward is working for H.Y.D.R.A. There were a couple times she looked she was going to lose it over the horrifying discovery but Skye held it together. To keep Ward’s suspicions at a minimum, Skye tags along with him as he flies the Bus to the location needed to unlock the hard drive because Fitz needs the specs on the 084 they found in Peru. Or so Ward says.

Another Marvel villain is introduced in this episode: Marcus Daniels aka Blackout.
