*WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!*
John Nickel, one of the names on the list, is crossed off as he is acquitted of charges for deplorable conditions of property he owns in the Glades. Arrow arrives at a penthouse suit to discover that someone has gotten to Nickel first. Oliver returns and informs Felicity and Diggle, where he asks Felicity to look him up. Oliver wants to find whoever took him. Thea and Robert are getting more acquainted until a man stops by and hands him a package with a gun. Upset, Thea leaves. Laurel arrive home to find her father working with her mother to search for sarah; however, Laurel is not pleased for some reason, stating that she expected her father to get her mother to accept that Sarah is gone. At a restaurant, Oliver and Diggle are enjoying dinner when a video pops up on, not just their phones, but every phone in the city. The video shows Nickel tied up where he is forced to confess about the depravity of the building he owns in the glades. He is then viciously shot. When Diggle and Oliver return to their hideout, another video pops up showing DA Folck where he is made to talk about the case. Later, Moira and Chen discuss the assassination attempt on Malcolm.
Time is running out for the DA. With felicity’s help, Oliver tracks down the man known as the Savior only to be led astray courtesy of the signal being bounced around. Oliver makes it to the proposed location but it is too late as the DA is shot. Oliver tries to comfort felicity who feels distraught by what happened.
Laurel meets with her parents to discuss the photos of Sarah. She tells them that the girl in the photo is friend of hers. Quentin and his wife Dinah’s dreams of their daughter being alive are dashed. Thea tries to convince Roy not to go through with the robbery. They are both attacked by someone and Roy is tossed into a van. The kidnapper has put a video of Roy Harper just like the he did with nickel and the DA. Oliver learns that Thea is acquainted with him and promises to save him. Later at the hideout, felicity isolates the sound in the video which Diggle recognizes as a subway car. Oliver makes his way into the old subway system. In the video, Roy tells the Savior to kill him.
Quentin and Laurel learn that Dinah knew about Sarah trip with Oliver and that she told her to follow her heart. Guilt overwhelms her and she breaks down.
Roy tells the man to kill him to which the Savior agrees. Arrow arrives in time to save Roy but first he tries to convince the man to release Roy. Words do not work and Arrow is forced to stop Savior to save Roy. Afterward, Thea is saddened, thinking that Roy id dead until he shows up at Oliver’s club. Oliver looks down, pleased with the smile on her face. Elsewhere, Moira tells Chen that Malcolm knows about their plan to kill him. Suddenly, Chen is shot by arrows and the Black Archer reveals himself. He and Moira seem to have an acquaintance with each other. Moira begs him to spare Chen’s daughter. She looks down at his body and up again only to see that the Black Archer is gone. Inside her car, Moira breaks down.
It is interesting to see Arrow go from “hit list hoodlum” to “heroic savior”. The previous formula would’ve eventually run its course so it is refreshing to see the reinvented character slowly develop into the familiar hero fans know. Last night’s episode proved to be pushing the series in the right direction. Instead of hunting down more names on the list, Oliver actually tries to go out of his way to save one of the persons on the list. Sadly, he was too late. However, he does manage to rescue Thea’s would-be boyfriend Roy. He even pleads with the Savior to give him a chance. Seeing what the Savior has done to those who “should be punished”, Oliver may’ve gotten a glimpse of what he would’ve become had he continued on his previous path of vengeance. Within the last couple of episodes, Diggle seems to be fading into the background. Before, his role was almost as active as Oliver but he is slowly becoming to Oliver what Alfred Pennyworth is to Bruce Wayne (I still want an episode with him in it). This is illustrated by Diggle suggesting that Oliver take the night off and do something normal such as have dinner with him or taking a moment to pay attention to Laurel.
Good girls like bad boys as Thea takes her relationship with Roy Harper a little further. It wasn’t that long ago (2 episodes) when she tried to bust Roy for snatching her purse only to drop the charges when he gives her a terrible sob story which in turn leads her to offer him a job at her brother’s club which he turned down unanimously. So why is she attracted to him? It’s just what she likes, I guess. We get to see just how much she likes him when he gets taken by the Savoir and tearfully begs big bro to save him. Oliver succeeds and she embraces him tightly, happy to have him back. There are a couple of dark spots in this episode. First, Dinah and Quentin have their dreams dashed as they learn that the girl in the photo is not Sarah, but rather a friend of Laurel who was in China at the time the picture was taken. Second, Moira and Chen are found out in the assassination attempt on Malcolm. While discussing what their next move is, Malcolm makes a return appearance as the Black Archer and takes out Chen. Then he turns his attention to Moira whom he thanks for her service. Five to one, she blames Oliver for this.
