Next God of War title centers on Kratos’ wife Faye and other mythologies!!

As a God of War fan from Day One, I will always enjoy this series no matter what direction it goes in. The 2018 reboot showed that Kratos is more than a god-slaying murderer by bringing deeper depth to his character in showing his humanity while keeping the core of what makes him interesting intact. But the God of War series has done more than shape an icon in gaming, it opened door to other mythical worlds than can be explored. This latest entry is going to open those doors even wider. God of War: Laufey centers on Kratos’ second wife Faye whose funeral we attended in the opening scene of the 2018 God of War game. The game follows Faye, who has entered the Afterlife of the Gods following her death, on a mission to find a way back to her husband and son. The trailer shows the beautiful and vibrant world Faye will be exploring in the afterlife where she will encounter new threats, interesting allies and other gods.

Faye shows that she is more than a pretty face. Her attacks with the speed and acrobatic finesse of a powerful swordswoman. With the ability to jump returning to the game, her aerial combat is on par with Kratos in his hayday, ending her assault with a fierce takedown. From what I could tell, Laufey looks to be combining combat elements from the Greek and Norse eras of the series. Faye can block and counter with a mixture of magic and melee. Her speed opens for insane combos to keep her enemies guessing her next move. Through her journey, she will encounter gods from other pantheons including Egyptian and Mongolian, which also opens the possibility of her meeting the deceased Greek gods slain by Kratos.
Possible but unlikely.

God of War: Laufey likely takes place during the events of the 2018 title with Faye starting her journey in the afterlife while Kratos and Atreus begin theirs in Midgard. While we all want Kratos or even Atreus, Faye was such an interesting character when we saw her interacting with Kratos when he entered the pillar of light which showed him a memory. Now we get to know more about the woman who was able to quell the Spartan rage in the former God of War. Debora Ann Woll reprises her role as Faye, having portrayed her in the previous titles. Joining her are Jack Quaid as Phranque, a sentient cube-like creature and Perlina Lau as Rue, magic ribbons attached to the hilt of a mystical sword.

As mentioned before, I am a fan of the God of War series, and I am looking forward to this next entry. Faye looks like she is going to be a lot of fun to play, and I want to see what other mythologies Santa Monica Studios will tap into for this epic journey.
