FREE animation shorts at the Philadelphia Asian American Film Fest on Friday!

The Philadelphia Asian Film Festival (which has been going on since the 12th of November), is hosting the FREE animation shorts on FRIDAY, November 20th at the Asian Art Initiative building located at 1219 Vine St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19107 from 5pm – 6pm!


Up in the Clouds

This FREE shorts program offers a diverse selection of animated shorts that stretch the limits of the imagination. Animaton styles include CGI, watercolor, ink, and claymation. Filmmakers expected in attendance for post-film Q&A.

Zodiac Run
Director: Gabriel Silva | 2 mins
A very persistent mouse runs in a race against several other animals from the Chinese zodiac.

Think ink
Director: Wally Chung | 7 mins
An animated film about outcasts and acceptance, à la psychology inkblots.

Up in the Clouds

A teenager falls in love with flying while learning to drive a car with her dad.

Director: Will Kim | 2 mins
A short watercolor-animation film about different reasons and ways of waiting, dedicated to the animator’s friend, Simon, who passed away after a long, brave, and patient fight with a rare illness.

Junk Girl
Director: Mohammed Zare | 15 mins
A claymation short inspired by Tim Burton’s poem of the same title about a lonely self aware pile of trash.

Program is FREE, but reservation is recommended to guarantee seating.
