Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5 demo is absolutely stunning!!

What is up, Gamers and Gamettes! Are you ready to be blown away? I don’t mean blown away, I mean out the back of your house and into your neighbor’s living room! You will when you see this video.

Epic Games has recently posted a video demonstrating their new Unreal Engine 5 operating system coming to the PlayStation 5. Brian Karis, technical director of graphics, and Jerome Platteaux, special projects art director, gives the details on the new UE5 in the video below. Watching the demo, I was blown away by the amount of detail in this demo. According to Karis, UE5 uses nanite virtualization to create an insane level of detail on each individual rock and surface to achieve real world accuracy. They even used recordings they gathered from caves to give realistic reverberating sound of falling rocks. As the demo progresses, the character encounters a large statue that Karis says is made up of 5 million triangles, and there are 300 of these exact same statues in the next room. That’s hundreds of billions of triangles! Check it out for yourself and tell us what you think.
