Amazing Spider-Man PR, this is your week in our COSPLAY SPOTLIGHT!!

Why do you cosplay?

Cosplay is basically an activity where people can truly express themselves and have fun. It helps me express myself and meet others that like the same things I do. Also I attend events created to help children and people in need using my cosplays in order to bring a bit of joy to people that need it.

What was your first cosplay?

The first cosplay I made was a “Vigilante Spider-Man” from The Amazing Spider-Man film. It was a pretty simple suit and a great way to get inside the cosplay community. (I had already gone to conventions before the film but as a civilian only)

Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?

It’s a group collaboration of some sorts. There are pieces of my cosplays that I buy and others I make. However, the 3D rubber-like webbing and brick patterns are done by hand by myself (Using 3D fabric paint) I also sew my suits. Time is relative but can take up to months in some occasions.

Who is your favorite character to play?

It may be a little hard to deduce but my favorite character is Spider-Man. I have done various versions of many Spider-Men and still have a bunch of new suits that I will be working on in the future. He is basically the character I can relate to in almost every aspect and this is the reason I mostly cosplay him in different iterations.

Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?

Comics and movies are definitely my biggest inspirations.

Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?

Bring hot glue to the conventions. (EXTREMELY essential for any cosplay) Also, have a game plan and take breaks. It may be cool to have a lot of people asking for photos but you are human and require some rest. You may need icy-hot gel (or something similar) the day after the convention.

Are there certain characters that are easier to cosplay as than others?

It really comes down to the detail you want for a certain cosplay. Anyone can buy a Halloween costume and be a character. (And there is nothing wrong with doing that) However, if you want an exact replica to a character it will take much more effort even with the simplest cosplay.
