The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational festival (TAKII) will be happening on December 27th and 28th 2014. What is TAKII? Well it’s the ultimate combination of asian music and culture here in Philadelphia at The Rotunda on
We asked the president ad founder Damien “D-Chan” Warsavage what he has in store for the holiday seasonal event.
“TAKII 18 ~Brand New World~, as much as it is covering “new territory” for us, it’s also the ultimate throwback season. For almost 10 years, The Asian Karaoke Idol Invitational has been the ultimate ‘lil convention that could’ story. From our humble beginnings inside of a small room at the William Way LGBT Community Center to our current digs at The Rotunda, we have brought smiles to many thousands of people who came to our crazy lil festivals twice a year (not to mention the countless others we have met during our travels on the TAKII World Tour). This season, we’ll be flying by the seat of our pants, giving you LIFE as we give birth to new local stars on the fandom scene, spotlight causes that are close to everyone’s hearts, & cherish the emotional intimacy that has made this festival such an integral part of the communities that we live in.
As for who we have coming, it’d be a live performance by myself, Lady Ai, Angele Joubert-Johnson (a Japanese Gospel singer), Julia Mae Staley (international harpist/vocalist), Koralene Cosplay (champion of Philly’s Next Top Cosplayer), & Mighty Maki (J-Pop idol in training).”
