Something demonic is happening at the Anderson Farm.
That’s why the local sheriff and police are investigating shocking and grim murders there in the first issue of Amor Patris.
Aaron Wroblewski, creator of Amor Patris, says he always wanted to write a creepy story.
“I’ve always been a massive fan of horror, especially the unknown and the supernatural, so a lot of inspiration came from TV (The Haunting of Hill House) to movies like: The Nun, The Conjuring… etc.,” Wroblewski said.
And Amor Patris delivers.
The reader is taken on a tour of the farm where grisly murders have taken place. It looks like there might be a need for an exorcist to rid the property of whatever satanic thing is inhabiting it.
Not only is the story good, but artist Hernan Gonzalez (whom Wroblewski says he “was so fortunate to find”) provides gritty, haunting black and white panels.
“The man is a wizard (or at the very least, sold his soul),” Wroblewski said of the artist.
“Hernan’s use of shadows is amazing,” Wroblewski added. “He nails the feel of the horror, keeping things hidden with just enough hints to keep the reader engaged.”
As we get closer to Halloween, Amor Patris is just the kind of spooky story to give you the heebie jeebies. What the makers of Amor Patris have accomplished is a horror comic book that will keep you up at night and leave the bedroom light on.
And what does Wroblewski want readers to take away from Amor Patris? “A great experience. Shock. Awe,” he said. “And wanting to come back for more!”
