When fans want their anime, they will pay for it! The official website and Twitter account for Dropkick on my Devil anime series announced they have collected over 180 million yen in tax donations via Chitose-city’s hometown tax project. The project was launched December 2, 2019 with a goal of 20 million yen. This was exceeded 9 times over by the end of the month. The Chitose-city project was launched to raise money for production of one bonus episode, “Chapter Chitose.” Now the anime series can have 9 extra episodes produced. The reason the city with 97,500 residents launched the project is voice actress Aina Suzuki (Jashin-chan) was born in Chitose in 1995.

Furusato Nouzei/Hometown Tax is a system in Japan that allows taxpayers who live in urban areas to contribute to rural areas with subtraction from income tax and residence tax, and the cities send their local products to donors in return. Furusato means hometown in Japanese, but in addition to their own hometown, taxpayers can pay tax anywhere they like or would love to help and encourage.
