Why do you cosplay?

I cosplay because I like the experience of becoming a character. Sort of like thinking of what life would be like if I had the power of your favorite super hero?

What was your first cosplay?

My first cosplay was also at my first convention (Otakon) which was Roxas from Kingdom Hearts and it was terrible.

Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?

Yes actually I’ve created only about 3 of my costumes. If the costume involves painting then maybe a couple of hours. To be honest half the time I actually buy the rest of my costumes.

What is your favorite character to play?

My favorite character to cosplay now is Lee Everett from The Walking Dead game. Originally it was Chad from Bleach, but my chad arm got messed up. Lee is my favorite because he is pretty simple to cosplay. Also I understand Lee’s character and motives behind every decision. Even though Lee went to jail for murdering someone, he also very passionate about things.

Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?

Just being able to be the character.

Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?

Oh yes, I’ve made many cosplay mistakes beginning with my first. Never start a cosplay late because when you procrastinate it doesn’t to come out as good. When you’re rushing to finish it for the weekend of the convention you work careless and tend to notice your mistakes until someone takes a picture of you. However I can’t speak for everyone. Number two be careful if you’re ordering costumes from overseas. They’re sizing is much different from the US. A large from Asia might actually be a small in America.

Are there certain characters that are easier to cosplay as than others?

Oh yes there is Brock from Poke’mon who I’ve cosplayed, and L from Death note. As long as you have the right clothing, make up, and wig. Put’em all together and you’re good.
