1) On what project are you currently working?
Currently, I am working on a few projects; some for myself and the rest for some work for hire stuff. I’ve just funded a Kickstarter project on Labor Day for three awesome one-shot comics; I’ve got a western comic I’ve been slowly developing with the fantastic artist Emanuele Tomerelli, which is tons of fun; and a few other cool projects that I’m excited to release. Just a busy guy overall!
2) Whom in your field do you admire most and why?
Not sure if those that have passed count, but I’d say Dwayne McDuffie. He was a creator ahead of his time and he really had a great vision on what comics are at their core. I look up to him and the work he’s done in the industry; I hope to make even a fraction of the impact that he has made.
3) How did you get into the comic book field?
I’ve always wanted to create comics, but had no idea exactly how to do that. I spent all of 2019 researching exactly how to write comics, and analyzing all my favorite comics in order to create my own material. If not for that, and the support of my wife, I don’t think that I’d have made as far as I have! Almost five years in, and I’ve been on at least a dozen or more projects outside of my own!
4) On which title would you most like to work and why?
If I ever got the chance, I’d tackle my favorite Marvel title, Thor. I’m a big fan of fantasy and mythology stories, so it was an easy choice as there’s a plethora of stories I could tell with him. My love of the book lead to me writing my own Norse mythology comic called Magni the Mighty — which features Thor’s sons, Magni and Modi.
5) On what project will you be working next?
My next project isn’t a secret anymore, but when it’ll release is a matter of when. The Lion of Olympus is a big, beautiful book featuring the greatest hero of Greece, Herakles (Hercules)! Other than this project, I’ll be doing a follow up of my noir one-shot comic and continue the path with my western comic. Lots of great stuff to come in the next few years that’ll keep me very busy!
