Guest Review: Saga #11

Saga #11 Review

This week Brian K.Vaughn dropped a jewel on the comic book world
called “The Private Eye” an independently released digital release
comic. Then Image on Wednesday released his and Fiona Staples’ book
about star-crossed lovers Marco and Alana, being chased across the
stars, with their baby Hazel. This months offering of Saga taught me
something valuable, sex in space is not only possible but apparently
it’s better. This series continues to be good and very worth the
purchase, we’re picking up where we left off with last issue the egg
of a giant space creature had just hatched. Our happy little family
had just escaped the Will a bounty hunter charged with their capture,
but were still attempting to escape the gravity well of the living
black hole. Marco and his mother Klara have just returned from saving
Hazel’s ghostly baby sitter Izabel from said space creature’s
hatching, While Alana and Marko’s father Barr attempt to keep the ship
and everyone in it alive. Last issue the Will’s ship was hit bad and a
member of his crew was thought to be lost and it was hemorrhaging air
like an artery. While Gwendolyn, Marco’s ex and the Slave girl he
saved some issues back (named ‘slave girl’) held on for dear life the
Will proved once again why he is a cooler bounty hunter than Boba
Fett. This issue was a welcome change from last issue where felt like
very little happened with the exception of the ending. Fiona Staples is killing on this
book, every character has there own facial expression and gestures, even The Will’s
Lying Cat. The soft colors that she uses really add to the feel of a book that meshes
fantasy and sci-fi so well.

My only gripes is that the big ‘reveal’ in this issue happened too soon for my taste
and possibly could’ve been drawn out an issue or two, also like most
Image books it is best read in trades .I’m going to be real and say
that Saga is the best mainstream comic book out right and I give this
issue a 4 out of 5
