What’s happening J1sters! Well, we finally have a trailer for Mortal Kombat II, the upcoming sequel to the 2021 film based on the classic fighting game from Netherrealm Studios (formally Midway). For the sequel, Karl Urban takes up the role of Johnny Cage, an action film star who is thrust into an unworldly martial arts tournament to decide the fate of the world. We get fanservice in the trailer along with Easter Eggs. While the character designs look cool and some are on point with the game, there are changes to specific characters that I’m unsure of. I usually don’t have a problem with minimal changes, but this is a big one because this is a fan favorite character. We’ll see how well they are portrayed. Other than that, decent looking trailer. Hiroyuki Sanada is a darn good Scorpion. And I am looking forward to this movie!
Mortal Kombat II hits theaters October 24, 2025.
