In Afterlife, Skye is having second thoughts about letting her mother send Calvin away, knowing full well what will happen. She tries to convince her mother to be gentler with Calvin. Skye is taken to Milwaukee along with Calvin and Gordon who leaves afterward. Ward and Coulson have Bakshi, who is brainwashed, meet with Dr. List with Mike Peterson serving as bodyguard. Bakshi offers Mike to Dr. List. Coulson and Lance believe that Ward sold them out but Ward manages to convince them otherwise, telling them that it is part of winning List over. Using Mike, they discover that List has been tracking Gordon and eventually track him to Milwaukee. While out with her father, Skye calls May and tells her to pick up Calvin. Simmons traces the call. Calvin takes Skye to his old office where Skye tries to tell him goodbye. Hearing a noise, Calvin finds that Lincoln has been keeping track of them. Calvin figures out that Skye intended to leave him rather than spend time with him. Hydra agents led by Bakshi storm the building. Calvin holds off the soldiers giving Skye a chance to escape. Coulson and his team arrive as well and enter building in search of Skye after seeing her through Mike Peterson’s eye. Mike engages Lincoln who is protecting until they are captured by Bakshi who seems to have broken free from his mind control. Gordon arrive and quickly leaves with Skye but not before Calvin hitches a ride back to Afterlife. Outmanned and outgunned, Ward asks Coulson his next decision. Later, Bobbi and Mack arrives at the building where they find Coulson who stayed behind.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and none come more desperate than Coulson working together with Ward to find Dr. List who has been experimenting on powered people. It’s not an easy alliance especially for Fitz who still has a huge grudge against Ward. Ward uses a brainwashed Bakshi to speak with Hydra scientist Dr. List which seems to work until Bakshi offers up Mike Peterson. This suggests that Bakshi is breaking free and solidified when he leads a team of Hydra agents and captures both Mike Peterson and Lincoln. Bakshi created the brainwashing treatment so it was likely that he knew how to reverse or even resist the treatment. However, the highlight was Calvin Zabo trying to make nice with his daughter Skye. Watching fumble and bumble as he babbled about the past and what he had planned for Skye had she not been taken away and Jaiying butchered by Daniel Whitehall made for comedic entertainment as well as see him in a different light. He was very calm around Skye, just like the Hulk would remain calm around Betty Ross which this reminded me of. It was a joy watching Calvin happily get his little girl ice cream. You almost felt sad for him for what he has done and why. But a devastating blow comes when he finds out that Skye intended to leave him and return to Afterlife. Poor Calvin is crushed, to be betrayed by his daughter. But Skye intension were to soften the blow. She rather enjoyed her dinner with her parents especially since she has never had a real family. For a moment, she sympathizes with her father, having been on the wrong side herself on occasion. Who knows, maybe they’ll work things out they’re back in Afterlife. Jaiying got some “schplaning” to do.
