Fellow gamers, who is it going! DevilDriver1313 here once again to bring to news in the digital world!
Of all the games I have played over the years, the Castlevania series will always have a special place in my heart. I love the gothic atmosphere, the intense gameplay, the variety of enemies and weapons customization. Its legacy lives on with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, which was developed by Koji Igarashi, who helped create Castlevania. The beloved series is ready to be honored again via a parody game being developed by Retroware.
The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest not only pokes fun directly at Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, but it also sticks it tongue out at other classic games such as “Battletoads,” “Metroid,” and even “Super Mario Bros.” Even the game’s synopsis plays on a troupe that ran through Konami’s adorned series. Heck, even the title’s acronym is some clever word play.
Synopsis: The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest (TASQ) is a parody/homage platformer set in a dark 8-bit world. Rival Stan Helsing robbed Simon of fame by killing Count Dracula first! Reclaim your glory by resurrecting Dracula piece by piece and slaying the dark count yourself!
This looks like an interesting title as it does truly pay homage to Castlevania while at the same time, trolling it. Simon Quest, the game’s protagonist, has the standard whip and sub-weapons along with Richter Belmont’s slide kick and he can swing from objects using his whip like his namesake Simon Belmont in Castlevania IV. This looks like it could be a fun game to play; unfortunately, it is still in development, so we won’t get to enjoy it until next year. Hopefully, the finished product will be worth the wait.
Until then, I will see you “On the NXT LVL!”
The Transylvania Adventure of Simon Quest will be available on Nintendo Switch, Steam, Epic Games Stores, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4 in 2025.
