“MIND GAMES”. Is that not the COOLEST name for a VG Remix album?!
StarStorm is back with album #2 and believe it, she has been putting in that work!! We’ve been following her social media accounts since we posted about her first album, Gamer Good Times. When we discovered that she’d finished her second album, we jumped on the opportunity to get an early listen, and my goodness, we are blown away by the new tunes she’s been cooking up.
I’ll admit that chip tune music, for me, is usually a hit or miss scenario. Sometimes it’s just a bit too many beeps and boops for the ears to enjoy. What miss Star Storm has been doing, however, is truly changing the game. The blend of unique, morphing, melodic sounds and heavy hitting chip-based drum rhythms she creates makes each piece more of a wild, danceable, video game adventure! Just close your eyes from time to time as you listen to this album! It’s like you’re running, jumping, and blasting your way through the twists and turns of a nostalgic game level!
Some of her “levels” are upbeat and jolly, others have a very intriguing dark vibe, as many VG tunes do. The album as a whole does a wonderful job of transitioning through all kinds of moods, and at no point does the action grow stale.
It’s so fresh, so dirty, so totally rad, and we couldn’t be more psyched to present it to you exclusively on our website today. Don’t worry folks, it will be showing up on her bandcamp page very soon for your downloading purposes.
