Devildriver1313 here again to take a look at what in store for Fox Monday nights. Well as we all know, and for those who don’t, psychological thriller the Following ran its final season with Ryan Hardy faking his death in order to pursue a new hidden threat greater than Joe Carroll. Hopefully, a follow up special will be out into the works to give the series closure. Now on to the current series running on Monday nights on Fox. Gotham turned out be the breakout hit it was expected to be. The series tells the story of a young Bruce Wayne and the people who influenced his life and his eventual development into Batman. Bruce’s life as a child was never really fully depicted in any form so it was interesting to see which steps Gotham would take, and those steps were all in the right direction. While Bruce is the focus in the series, Gotham City and the corruption within it are the centerpieces. Throughout Gotham’s fledgling season, we were introduced to the early lives of familiar villains including Edward Nigma, Selina Kyle, Harvey Dent, Oswald Cobblepot and Poison Ivy (referred to as Pepper Ivy instead of Pamela Isly). The series also follows James Gordon on his path to cleaning up the corruption in Gotham and becoming the tough as nails commissioner many fans know and love. When the first season ended, mob boss Carmine Falcone entrusted Gotham to James Gordon, promising to return on day to see how he has progressed. James’ path to commissioner begins this season. Bruce has been investigating his parents’ murder and the corruption within his father’s company. He learns that his father Thomas had secrets that not even Alfred is aware of. While searching through Thomas’ study, they find a book that opened a secret passage way behind the fireplace. Speculation about the possibility of the Batcave has spread throughout fandom. Is it? Or will there be more questions than answers. As mentioned before, there have been several surprise reveals of future villains. Among them were Bane via his Venom formula, Johnathan Crane, and Joker. The other two were worthy but the Joker hint was the talk in midseason. What’s even more interesting is that Gotham was originally supposed to end with that episode, leaving fans frothing at mouth. But the best hint was when James was assigned to guard duty at Arkham Asylum. We all wanted to see Hugo Strange but alas that didn’t happen. Perhaps this season something Strange will occur, and when it does, it won’t be a laughing matter.
