Profile: G-Man Comics

J1 Studios recently connected with Rik Offenberger, one of the founders of G-Man Comics, an independent publisher with more than a dozen titles under its belt since it opened its doors five years ago.

In what year did you start?

September 2019 with the Who’s Who: The Official Handbook of the G-Man Universe #1.

How many titles do you publish?

Seventeen titles, 52 issues so far.

Which is your flagship title?

Simon N. Kirby: The Agent

How large is your team?

We have had 72 different people working with us over the last five years. Some on every comic some on only one comic. Additionally, we have had about 40 creators share their characters as part of the G-Man team.
G-Man Comics was founded by Eric N. Bennett, Jim Burrows and myself. Gilbert Monsanto is our art director. We have had a hand in some way in all 52 comics.

What’s your company philosophy and/or what sets your company apart from other comic book companies?

I call us the world’s finest micro publisher. We are a guild style publisher with my heroes, Eric’s heroes, Jim’s heroes, and Gilbert’s heroes all interacting in a shared universe. We crossover with other indie comic book publishers in a lot of different ways from cameo to full issue team ups.

How did the move to more digital media affect your company?

We offer both print and digital. Comic fans who grew up with paper love paper comics and were are all part of that group. But younger readers, people with limited storage space and people who like to read on their phone or tablet love digital. We want to be there for them too.
