SPOILERS AHEAD!!
The Girl in the Flower Dress Raina is broken out of prison by Ward to continue the Centipede Project.
Garret and Ward break Raina out of prison. Coulson watches the report about the Helicarrier crash on the news. Ward takes Raina to John Garret who tells her he is not the Clairvoyant and that he doesn’t have powers. He invites her into H.Y.D.R.A. Coulson receives a call from General Talbot who tells him that he will send soldiers to investigate the Hub. Coulson accepts the news to Talbot but knows full well that Talbot has an ulterior motive. The team gets the Bus into the air with limited resources. At a disclosed location, Garret hands vials he has taken from the facility where Coulson was brought back to life. On the Bus, Coulson receives a message from Nick Fury. Meanwhile Ward and Garret along with H.Y.D.R.A. soldiers break into the Fridge and raid the weapons locker. Coulson and his team land in Canada and they hike to the coordinates that were sent to him by Fury. They find a secret base where they are told by the agent there that Fury is dead and the Fridge has been lost. Fearing the worst, Skye calls Ward who arrives at the base.
Coulson arrives at the secret base Providence where he is told that Nick Fury is alive.
S.H.I.E.L.D. has fallen. Coulson is struggling to deal with this fact. He has put his life on the line and died (literally) for the agency. The number of people he can trust is limited even in his team. After learning about Melinda May’s true purpose, Coulson’s trust in her is completely destroyed. May tries to comfort him only to end up treating his grief as a possible side effect from the drug used to bring him back from the dead. Coulson lashes back. His whole world has just crumbled down around him and the one person with all the answers is MIA. Phil has every right to be upset, hurt and betrayed. Because of this, he now feels useless and more so after he has Skye erase their existence. He does get a glimmer of hope when he receives coordinates that could possibly be from Nick Fury. Sadly, not all of his team is on board. May and Trip are shaken that H.Y.D.R.A. has single-handed destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D. and are afraid of who to trust. But Coulson drags his team through the Canadian wilderness to an empty location. There, he breaks down from the weight of everything that has happened—the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., the secrets he learned about his resurrection, the fact that a man he one considered a friend turns out to be traitor. Despite all this, Coulson is still dedicated to S.H.I.E.L.D. and strongly believes that the agency will return. But that might be difficult since Fury has gone into hiding and Coulson is not permitted to tell anyone.
Grant Ward has been working for H.Y.D.R.A. alongside John Garrett (Bill Paxton). They plan to completely dismantle S.H.I.E.L.D.
For those of you who think Grant Ward is still with S.H.I.E.L.D., you can forget it. Ward is with H.Y.D.R.A. and has been for quite some time. Garret had Ward join Coulson’s team in order to learn more about his resurrection but they didn’t get squat. They waste no time taking full advantage of S.H.I.E.L.D. now that it is broken. They first stop is the Fridge where they retrieve several dangerous weapons that were supposedly sent of the planet for fear of them falling in the wrong hands. Looks like S.H.I.E.L.D. has been doing a lot of lying of its own and this lie is going to come back and bite them in the ass. Ward’s time with the team proves extremely useful when he remembers Coulson telling him about the hidden area below the Fridge. From it, they recover the gravitonium and possibly Professor Hall. What makes the situation worse is that Ward is keeping up his pretenses and uses Skye to keep tabs on the team’s actions. This illustrates why he saved her life. Skye trusts Ward and he will use that trust against her for H.Y.D.R.A. and to further the Centipede Project. If the team thought they ran out of allies before, wait until they learn the truth about Grant Ward.
