It has been a hot minute since we last saw Ryuk write Light Yagami’s name in his Death Note, ending the supernatural series created by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.
Last year, it was announced that a new one-shot chapter would be written by Ohba and illustrated by Obata after 12 years. It would be published in Shueisha’a Jump SQ. Well Death Note fans, the time has arrived. The February issue of Jump SQ that was released January 4 revealed that the 86-page one shot will be featured in March issue, which will be released on February 4.
Once again, Ryuk’s Death Note falls to Earth for some hapless human to retrieve to begin the fun all over again.
Death Note was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from December 2003 to May 2006. The 108 chapters have been collected into 12 tankobon volumes published between April 2004 and July 2006. A TV anime adaption aired for 37 episodes from October 2006 to June 2007. A live action drama aired in 2015. Both the anime and Japanese drama air currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
