How to Train your Dragon live action teaser trailer – opens June 2025

Well, it’s finally here, J1sters! We get our first look at the upcoming live action version of Dreamworks’ “How to Train your Dragon”, a live action adaption of the 2010 animated film, itself loosely based on the 2003 children’s novel. The film is directed by Dean DeBios who had worked on the animated film trilogy. It stars Mason Thames, Nico Parker, Nick Frost, Julian Dennison, Gabriel Howell, Bronwyn James, Harry Trevaldwyn, Ruth Codd, Peter Serafinowicz, and Murray McArthur, with Gerard Butler reprising his role as Stoick the Vast from the animated films. John Powell, who also worked on the animated trilogy, returns as composer.

Soar with Hiccup and Toothless once more when the live action version of “How to Train your Dragon” flies into theaters June 13, 2025!

Now, we have had our fair share of good and bad remakes of animated films (mostly Disney). This looks like it could be one of the good ones. Gerard Butler looks the part of Stoick the Vast, and it looks like his size may have been bumped up either through CGI or costume effects to resemble the character. Toothless is a near match for his animated counterpart which is not a stretch considering both are computer generated. The well-known Night Fury looks amazing and will be even more amazing when we gert to see him in action next year.
