Why do you cosplay?
Because I enjoy doing something that makes use of my skills.
What was your first cosplay?
My first official cosplay at a convention was Elsie from The World God Only Knows. Before that, I only dressed up as characters on Halloween and did a generic catgirl.
Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?
I’m a modifier, I take existing pieces and change them to suit the character. I usually start collecting supplies for a costume months before an event. Sometimes I even find pieces for a new costume at conventions.
Who is your favorite character to play?
I’d have to say either Keima Katsuragi or Harley Quinn. Keima is very comfortable, but can get hot over time. Both are usually very well received, but Harley is certainly more recognized.
Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?
The medium can be anything, it’s the individual character that stands out and make me want to portray them. If I had to pick, I’d say comics have the largest influence on me in general.
Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?
Using regular, cheap hair gel on synthetic wigs is a bad idea. Use Got 2 B glued gel and only on the tips of spikes, hairspray is best for most tasks.
Are there certain characters that are easier to cosplay as than others?
I’d say Roberta from The Cleveland Show is my easiest costume to date. It’s just my normal jeans, sneakers, and a crop top with a normal wig and light makeup.
