So there’s been a lot of buzz on the collaboration between Nintendo and Namco as of recently. The biggest being Namco working on the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Just recently, it was discovered that The Pokemon Company has registered two new trademarks, titled Pokken Fighters and Pokken Tournament. And considering that Namco, who is known for the Soul Calibur and Tekken series, is working with Nintendo on Smash…well, I think it’s a bit obvious that Pokken Fighters/Pokken Tournament will be a fighting game.
This comes after a small teaser clip in a video reel The Pokemon Company released at The Pokemon Game Show in Japan back in August. The video had Pikachu running through the series’ legacy, starting from Game Boy to X & Y on the 3DS. At the end, this image was shown at the end of the video.
Personally, I think that this is an interesting twist for the Pokemon series. If this happens to be what Pokken Fighters/Pokken Tournament is supposed to be (which I think it is, given that the title is a cross between Pokemon and Tekken), I’d definitely like to see how this turns out.
