Hey Moore Character aka Bryan “Jack” Moore, welcome to the COSPLAY SPOTLIGHT!!!!!
Why do you cosplay?
I cosplay because it is a passion of mine. I love being able to bring some of my favorite characters to life and its always a extraordinary feeling being able to make people happy when they see me bring their favorite character to life. Its also a nice plus to put on a mask and/or costume and be someone else for a while and escape from the real world.
What was your first cosplay?
Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?
At first I used whatever I could find to make my costumes at thrift stores, Halloween stores, or from the Internet. Then I started doing more complex costumes and had certain pieces commissioned. Now I try to make or modify as much as I can on my own. Obviously if I can’t make it or its easily outsourced ill get it that way but for the most part now I try to make my own props and costumes.
A lot of my Kraven the Hunter and Green Goblin are made by hand. It usually takes a good month or so depending on the complexity of the costume. I do have a few in the works now that are going to be 100% handmade by me.
What is your favorite character to play?
Jack Sparrow is by far my most favorite to cosplay because he can do what ever he wants pretty much and his personality is much like my own. He is just so much fun and everyone knows who he is.
Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?
My biggest inspiration comes right from the pages of marvels classic comics from silver and golden ages. Also Johnny Depp is a big inspiration.
Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?
This is a really good question. There is so much I could say but I won’t bore you. Costume debuts are always when you will find out what’s wrong with your costume so I try to make my debuts smaller cons or gatherings. Be proud of your work have fun and don’t let others put you down it’s not a game.
Are there certain characters that are easier to play than others?
There will always be characters that are easier to play than others but I don’t let that stop me. Jack is the easiest for me to play once in costume but the process of becoming him and prep work takes a few hours but is well worth it. Most of the rest take like 30 minutes or so but in the end it all depends on your dedication and confidence. I enjoy it so much that all of that is worth it to me.
