Anime fans, listen up! The Seven Deadly Sins is getting a new anime series! The 17th issue of Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine revealed that the new anime adapted from Nakaba Suzuki’s The Seven Deadly Sins manga, titled Nanatsu no Taizai: Fundo no Shinpan (The Seven Deadly Sins: Anger’s Judgement) will air in October on TV Tokyo’s six channels and BS-TV Tokyo. The main cast is set to reprise their roles.
The issue also revealed that the manga will be getting a sequel series titled Mokushiroku no Yon-kishi (The Four Knights of the Apocalypse) that will center on Tristan, one of the Four Horseman. A new stage play for The Seven Deadly Sins is also in the works. Creator Nakaba Suzuki has plans to work on side stories featuring the “remaining characters” but has no date for that project at this time. He said the work on that will begin once he serializes the new series, confirming the sequel manga.
Suzuki launched The Seven Deadly Sins in 2012. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine, with the chapters collected into forty tankōbon volumes as of September 17, 2019. The manga features a setting similar to the European Middle Ages, with its titular group of knights representing the seven deadly sins. The series was adapted into an anime television series that ran for three seasons by A-1 Pictures and Studio Deen. A film titled The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky premiered in August 18, 2018. Netflix acquired the exclusive English streaming rights for the anime series while Funimation currently has the home video rights. Crunchyroll released the chapters of the manga digitally as they were published in Japan while Kondansha USA collected and published them in English tankobon volumes.
