Crunchyroll adds classic anime Revolutionary Girl Utena to lineup!!

Anime streaming channel Crunchyroll has recently dug into the archives and pulled out one of the most beloved anime series and added to their repertoire. Revolutionary Girl Utena began streaming Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. PST. It is currently showing only in the US and Canada.

Revolutionary Girl Utena is a series created by Be-Papas, an artist collective founded by Kunihiko Ikuhara, that follows Utena Tenjou, an orphaned teenage girl who expresses her childhood desire to be a prince through her strong-willed personality and tomboyish manner of dress. She finds herself drawn into a series of sword duels to win the hand of Anthy Himemiya, a mysterious girl known as the “Rose Bride” who possesses the “power to revolutionize the world”.

The anime adaption of the 1996 manga written by Chiho Saito debuted in 1997 and ran for 39 episodes.
