Idris Elba cast to voice Knuckles in second Sonic the Hedgehog movie!!

What’s up, J1sters!

For a while now, it has been hinted at the Knuckles the Echidna could appear in the second Sonic the Hedgehog movie, especially since the Echidna tribe was revealed in the opening moments of 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, not only has it been verified, but he will be voiced by Idris Elba. Elba posted on his Twitter the image confirming his role.

Idris Elba has played many memorable characters in film including Stacker Pentecost in Pacific Rim, Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Stringer Bell in The Wire, and (most recently) Bloodsport in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey and James Marsden will be reprising their roles as Sonic, Robotnik and Tom Wachowski, respectively.

2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog go off the a rough start when images of the Blue Blur’s design for the film surfaced in 2019 followed by a trailer weeks later. The design, called “Human Sonic” by most, was heavily criticized by fans, video game sites and Sega’s own Team Sonic who has worked on the games. Paramount was forced to delay the film to redesign Sonic to resemble his appearance in the games. Sonic more familiar design was well received by fans and critics.
