After hanging up the cape and cowl nearly thirty years ago, Michael Keaton is ready to don the suit once again in DC’s standalone “Flash” movie. He is reportedly in talks with Erza Miller to take up his iconic role to portray an alternate version of the Dark Knight. The film seems to be taking a page from the CW’s DC television shows in which it will deal with alternate universes. This will allow Keaton’s Batman to square to Ben Affleck (who left the role in 2019) and help introduce Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. This could also bring in his greatest nemesis Joker, recently portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, this way.
The Flash movie will have Erza Miller’s Barry Allen recognize Burton/Keaton’s Batman and create an alternate universe in which Keaton’s Bruce Wayne is still Batman. Erza Miller made a guest appearance in the CW’s “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover event interacting with Grant Gustin’s Barry Allen/Flash. He even uttered the line, “I told Victor this was possible” before fading away, seeming back to his universe.
The Flash movie is planned for release in 2022. The delay is largely due to movie production being shut down because of COVID19.
