Capcom announces live action Mega Man movie!!

Get ready! The robot masters at Capcom have just revealed that there will be a live action Mega Man film coming soon. The film is being done to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Blue Bomber’s debut in 1988. 20th Century Fox is backing the film, which will be written and directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish, Paranormal Activity 3). Capcom hopes the film will not only appeal to fans of the series and gamers alike, but also please those who like action films. They also said that the film will stay true to the world of Mega Man while incorporating the grand production and entertainment that Hollywood movies are known for.

When it comes to live action video game movies, Capcom has been on both sides of the coin with the Street Fighter films. The first movie, released in 1994 starring Jean Claude Van Damme and Raul Julia, was not well received by critics and fans of the video game franchise despite being commercially successful. Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li faired the worst, receiving largely negative reviews and a poor box office performance. Hopefully Mega Man can finally bring video game movies into the light.
