Yu-Gi-Oh X Beyblade!! Chapter 1 Part 4!!

“That was a close one,” Yugi said. “If I had waited any longer, Dark Magician would have suffered a lot of damage. He’s still spinning. That’s good. I better go on the offensive while Taito’s distracted.”
Yami commands Dark Magician to attack Desert Rattler. The purple colored bey clashes with its snake themed opponent before sending it flying with another hard strike. Desert Rattler slams near the stadium’s edge. Again, the bey remains upright. Yami Yugi scoffs softly. He almost had Taito with a stadium out.
“That’s as close as you’re gonna get, kid,” Taito said, sharpening his glare. He then yells, “Cuz now I gonna grind your bey to pieces! Rattler!” The rattle snake face bolt on Taito’s bey glows brightly in response. “Special Move: Poison Fang!” Desert Rattler charges forward faster than before, glowing brightly.
“These beys have special abilities as well?” Yami Yugi said with shock. From within, Yugi is also watching. His mind begins to going to work quickly on a counterattack. He recalls the time he dueled against Duke Devlin in the game of Duke’s creation, Dungeon Dice Monsters. He and Yami were backed into a corner with Duke unleashing his strongest monster on the field. Then with luck and faith in his dice, Yugi was able to summon the Dark Magician and defeat Duke using the Special Abilities the Dark Magician possessed. It is then that the solution strikes him like lightning. Perhaps the Dark Magician has special abilities as a Beyblade as well. He has no time for a trial run so he has to make a battle field decision. Desert Rattler is upon Dark Magician, ready to deliver a powerful strike. Yami Yugi watches anxiously.
“What?!” said Taito. He is taken aback when the purple bey suddenly vanished at the moment of impact. Immediately, he tries to figure out what happened. He had Yugi’s bey lined up for a strike with Desert Rattler’s special move which would have won him the battle. But the bey vanished. Who is this kid, he wondered. He’s better than he expected. Just then Taito hears Yami Yugi laugh. “What are you laughing at, runt?” he says angrily.
“There’s something I should’ve mentioned before,” said Yami Yugi, smiling confidently. “My Dark Magician is a master illusionist. He has many tricks up his sleeve. Like this one.” Yami gestures with his gaze for Taito to look at the stadium. Taito’s eyes shoot wide by what he sees. In the stadium, several purple beys blanket the floor. Haiji and the other young bladers and Taito’s gang are also taken. Yami Yugi gazes at Taito, grinning. He has done this before. Yami offsets his opponents with this intimidating look, making them feel uneasy. Oftentimes, his opponents will become angered and lose focus, and then lose the match. Taito comes off as intimidating but only to those he knows cannot stand up for themselves. However, he can be just as intimidated by someone who can stand up to him. And the result of that is frustration of the loss of control over the match.
Just like now.
“You punk! What is this? What’s going on?” Taito snapped at Yami Yugi.
Yami Yugi laughs and says, “As I’ve said, Dark Magician is a master illusionist. He can use his powers to confuse and confound his opponents. This is a trick I like to call Magical Hats. One of these beys is my real magician. Your task is to find him, if you can.”
Taito glares at Yami. He took him for another amateur blader at first. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. The spiky hair kid before had proven to be a formidable opponent. As well as a nuisance. Taito has yet to lose a Beyblade battle since he began taking over stadiums in this area with his bey Desert Rattler, an endeavor he started out of anger for not being able to qualify for the Beyblade World Championship. Taito wanted to make sure that no one else would qualify for the next tournament except for him when the times comes. He wanted to enter to defeat the Battle Bladers champion and avenge someone he respected. But he lost before he even made it to the qualifying round. Since then, he has been challenging any blader who enters this area to further his skills. They have been easy targets thus far. Yugi is the only one to have given him trouble. Taito cannot lose. Not again. “You little punk! I’ll find your stinkin’ magician and send it flying!!” he lashed out. Desert Rattler bursts forward, aiming for the nearest purple bey. It passes through harmlessly. It redirects and carves through few more illusions. Anger and frustration mount within Taito as his bey has yet to find the real Dark Magician bey. “I’ll find it! Rattle snakes are superior predators! I’ll find your cowardly magician!” he yells.
Yami Yugi chuckles softly and says, “It is true that rattle snakes are excellent predators; however, magicians have been able to charm even snakes.”
Taito growls with anger at Yami Yugi’s statement. He then looks at his bey which has taken out several fake Dark Magician beys. His frustration grows not only from the fact that he is being shown up in front of his gang but also from a little fact about Desert Rattler. “Aw man, this ain’t good. I built Desert Rattler for speed and strength, not stamina. If this keeps up, I’ll lose on a sleep out!” he thinks. Desert Rattler blows through more illusions. Taito soon become less frustrated and more concerned. “C’mon, why am I not seeing it? The sun should’ve shown it by now.” He takes a look to the sky. There are no clouds to obscure the sunlight shining down on them. He was hoping the sunlight would reflect off of Yami Yugi’s bey, giving away its true location. But Desert Rattler has taken out nearly half the illusions and the Dark Magician remains hidden. “Why hasn’t the sunlight revealed that bey yet?” he wondered. And then it hits him. The Dark Magician bey must have an unpolished surface. Taito now becomes greatly worried that he will lose this battle. If he doesn’t do something soon, Desert Rattler will run out of stamina. He can already see that his bey is starting to slow down.
Yami Yugi watches his opponent. He sees the shock on his face. It won’t be long, he thinks, Taito’s bey will run out of stamina and he will lose. Yami has also noticed that Desert Rattler has slowed in speed. He could have his Dark Magician attack Desert Rattler but he’ll have to end Magical Hats in order to do so and reveal his magician. If he does that, Taito will use that moment to have his serpent bind the Dark Magician again and Yami cannot risk that. For now he waits for his chance to strike once Desert Rattler is worn down.
Desert Rattler eliminates more duplicates. The numbers are cut to less than half. Taito could take solace in the fact that he is close to finding the Dark Magician. But his bey is losing strength and fast. He cannot lose this battle. He must win if he is to make a bey strong enough to beat Gingka Hagane and his bey Galaxy Pegasus. “That’s it, runt! You can hide behind your tricks and illusions all you want!” he yells. Taito calls out to his bey. The rattle snake emblem on the bey’s face bolt glows brightly. “Special Move! Serpent’s Tongue!” With blinding speed, Desert Rattler shoots around the stadium, quickly dispelling the illusions.
“Oh no! At this rate, he’ll find the Dark Magician! But I thought his bey was slowing down! Where did this energy come from?!” Yami Yugi said in shock. His question is answered with laughter from Taito.
“Consider this a desperation move,” said Taito, grinning wickedly. “I customized Desert Rattler for speed and strength at the cost of stamina. Your Dark Magician is an attack and stamina type bey which means my Desert Rattler has no chance at a lengthy battle. So I’m gonna take you out quick and fast! And it’s gonna hurt!” Desert Rattler has used it increased speed to whittle the clone beys down to two. One of them is the real Dark Magician. Taito laughs out loud. “Now only two remain. I told ya I’d find your stinkin’ magician, punk!” he says with glee. “You’re done!” Desert Rattler zips across the stadium. Yami Yugi commands his bey to dodge the incoming attack to avoid damage. Taito spots this immediately and has Desert Rattler stop the Dark Magician dead in its tracks. The rattle bey blitzes Dark Magician, repeatedly hitting and running and hitting again. Taito grins widely before bellowing out with laughter. “Wha’cha gonna do now, runt?! A snake can strike faster than a person can blink their eye! And my snake is striking your magician faster than you can blink! It’ll cost me a lot of the stamina that Desert Rattler has left but it’ll be worth it! Your bey will be mine.” Again, Taito laughs from deep within.
