So it seems like the blue blur will be taking the big screen over once again. Sony Pictures announced that they are working on a feature-length film based off Sega’s legendary franchise: Sonic The Hedgehog. The film will be similar to how The Smurfs movies were done: combining CGI animation with live-action. The Sonic movie will also feature some of his friends (most likely Tails and Knuckles), and Dr. Eggman as the main antagonist of the movie. While there is no release date set just yet, Sony plans to release one film a year.
Now for those who aren’t too cool with Hollywood making a movie out of our beloved hedgehog (myself included), this may ease your fears a bit. The producer behind this movie is Neal Moritz, the man behind the Fast & Furious franchises, 21 Jump Street, and I Am Legend. Writing the movie will be Evan Susser and Van Robichaux, the same writers of the film Upright Citizens Brigade who are also working on a live-action adaptation of The Jetsons.
