After years of setbacks, The Crow could finally be getting a new lease on life. Sony Pictures picked up the rights to the film after the project was dropped by Relativity Media earlier this year. Creator of the comic book series in which the movies are based of off James O’Barr has said that British director Colin Hardy (The Hallow, The Nun) is still heading the project and that he is very involved with the project; however, he is unsure if Jason Momoa, who had been attached to play Eric Draven, will still fill the role. Jason currently plays Aquaman in the DCEU movies. Whoever fills the role will have some pretty big shoes to fill as there is still much love for Brandon Lee who was tragically killed during production of the original film in 1994. A remake of the film, originally directed by Alex Proyas has been in on the board since 2010. Hopefully, all of this comes to fruition as the Crow still has a strong cult following. The Crow Reborn is set to begin production in February 2018 with a projected released date in 2019. Should this happen, the remake could commemorate the 25th anniversary of Brandon Lee’s tragic and accidental death.
For those unfamiliar with the story, The Crow tells the tale of Eric Draven, a rock star who was murdered and returns from the dead to avenge his death as well as the rape and murder of his fiancée.
