Pokemon GO racks it in for 2018 with $800 million in earnings!!

Praise Pickachu!! Pokémon fever is not going to die down anytime soon. The mobile app game Pokémon GO has reportedly earned $795 million as of Wednesday according to the mobile analysis organization Sensor Tower. In December 2018, it earned more than $75 million alone, a 32% increase during the same month in 2017. Pokémon GO was earning $ 2.2 million per day, a 38% jump from last year. Pokémon GO saw several additions including the chance to research Mew, trading Pokémon with other players and player-vs-player battles. The app also added connectivity with the video games “Pokémon Let’s GO! Pikachu” and “Pokémon Let’s GO! Eevee” which launched for the Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018.

Since it launched in July 2016, Pokémon GO has earned $2.2 billion in revenue and has won several awards including BBC Radio 1’s Teen Awards 2016 for Best Game, The Game Awards 2016 for Best Mobile/Handheld Game and Best Family Game, D.I.C.E. Awards 2016 for Mobile Game of the Year, New York Game Critic Awards for A-Train Award for Best Mobile Game and Central Park Zoo Award for Best Kids Game, Game Developers Choice Awards 2016 for Best Mobile/Handheld Game. The game was awarded five Guinness World Records in August 2016.

Pokémon Go is an augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic for iOS and Android devices. A part of the Pokémon franchise, it was first released in certain countries in July 2016, and in other regions over the next few months. The game is the result of a collaboration between Niantic and Nintendo by way of The Pokémon Company.
