Warner Bros and DC drop a brand new trailer for the upcoming Shazam! film. In it, we get to see more of Zackary Levi’s performance as the titular character in his training to go from zero to hero. The trailer also introduces Mark Strong as Thaddeus Sivana, a successful yet twisted inventor and industrialist as the head of Sivana Industries. He himself had been summoned by the wizard Shazam as a child, but was not chosen as his champion, leading Sivana to spend his life trying to unlock the secrets of magic. Strong has previously player another DC villain, portraying Sinestro in the 2011 film Green Lantern.
Synopsis: Two years after Steppenwolf’s invasion, Billy Batson, a troubled 14-year-old orphan living in Philadelphia, is set up to move into a new foster home—his seventh—with the Vazquez family and their other five foster kids in Fawcett City. One day, Billy gets on a subway car and finds himself transported to a different realm where an ancient wizard gives him the power to transform into a godlike adult superhero by uttering the word “Shazam!” Billy and his new foster brother Freddy Freeman must discover Billy’s new powers and how to use them to prevent the villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana, who has powers of his own, from committing nefarious acts.
Shazam! stars Asher Angel and Zachary Levi as William “Billy” Batson / Shazam, Jack Dylan Grazer as Frederick “Freddy” Freeman, and Mark Strong as Thaddeus Sivana. The film is directed by David F. Sandberg and opens April 5.
