Netflix drops the teaser trailer for the long awaited Invader Zim movie, “Invader Zim: Enter the Florpus.” The trailer shows that Zim has been waiting patiently in the toilet, plotting his return. Now the time has come for him reign over the humans of Earth.
Invader Zim originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2001 to 2002 for a 27-episode run. The series was created by Jhonen Vasquez who pitched his idea to Nickelodeon to come up with an animated series to reach the older demographic. Invader Zim follows an extraterrestrial named Zim, from the planet Irk, and his mission to conquer Earth and enslave the human race along with his malfunctioning robot servant GIR. He is antagonized by Dib, a young paranormal investigator who is determined to stop Zim from succeeding. Invader Zim won an Annie Award, an Emmy Award and a World Animation Celebration Award, and received nominations for six additional Annie Awards and a Golden Reel Award. However, the show suffered in ratings and budget, and the show was ultimate canceled by Nickelodeon. Despite the cancellation, Invader Zim grew in popularity and has become a cult classic, and it is regarded as one of the best shows to air on Nickelodeon.
