Wow! After being revealed as DLC character a few weeks ago, we finally get to see the demon sorcerer Shang Tsung in action and he is bringing his centuries of combat experience with him. It is sheer joy to see Shang’s transformations return after being absent since Mortal Kombat 3. Although he was playable in the final Mortal Kombat trilogy released under the Midway brand (Deadly Alliance, Deception and Armageddon) and the crossover title with the DC Universe, he could not change into other characters. It is so sweet to finally see the Shang we know and love back in his own right. So far, he can change into the ninjas as part of his move set and fire his Flaming Skulls. His transformations and combos make Shang an incredibly versatile character, making his deadly for anyone to use once they get his moves down.
The best part of all of this – Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa voices and performs the motion capture for Shang Tsung. And his likeness is used for the character. This can be seen when he utters that classic line from the movie. Tagawa portrayed Shang in the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie. He reprised the role for the second season of the webseries “Mortal Kombat: Legacy.”
The first character pack of MK11 also reveals the return of Nightwolf and Sindel, and the game’s first guest character and most requested character Todd McFarlane’s Spawn. Klassic Skins pack also makes a return and two more characters are on the way.
Care to guess who they could be? One is teased at the end of the trailer where you hear the sound of a chainsaw. Now, it is super rare for guest characters to make a second appearance in the same fighting game series. Leatherface was already in Mortal Kombat X so he is not making a comeback. So who could it be? What other chainsaw wielding deviant could make an appearance in Mortal Kombat 11?
