Yup, that’s right! A few days ago, Microsoft just pulled the plug on the action RPG game Scalebound. Following a strong introduction, fans waited in anticipation for title. Things seemed to be going smoothly with progress updates on Platinum Games site. Sadly, this is no longer the case. Game Director Hideki Kamiya, known for giving us Dante and Bayonetta, gave hois thoughts on the surpise announcement via his Twitter account:

As you may have already heard, Scalebound has unfortunately been canceled. I’m very sorry to everyone who was looking forward to this game.

Sorry to bring you such bad news at the start of the year. All I can do for you is to promise to keep delivering fun games.

I’ll work extra hard to never have to let you down like this again, so I hope you will keep watching over us in the future too.

Clearly, Kamiya has seemingly moved on to another project.

Platinum Games’ president Kenichi Sato expresses his dismay over the suspension, saying that they are “very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were.” The company plans to move forward and continue to strive in delivering high-quality games to you, starting with NieR:Automata in March. Hopefully, fans who wanted the chance to ride the dragon will be able to do the same.
