It was just over a month ago that the live action movie of Tite Kubo’s “Bleach” manga hit Japanese theaters on July 20. Just like with the live adaptions of “Fullmetal Alchemist” and “Kakegurui”, Netflix has snatched up the film and added to its lineup. The live action Bleach movie, featuring Sota Fukushi as Ichigo Kurosaki, Hana Sugisaki as Rukia Kuchiki, and Miyavi as Byakuya Kuchiki, will begin streaming on September 14.
The Bleach movie covers the “Substitute Soul Reaper” arc of the manga. Produced by Warner Bros and directed by Shinsuke Sato, the film opened in Japan on July 20 at #4 on its opening weekend and grossed ¥135 million from Friday to Sunday. It fell to #5, grossing an additional ¥64,199,600 in its second weekend and dropped off the top 10 in Week 3, taking in ¥23,459,400. In total, Bleach took in ¥448,895,200 as of August 7.
