Well, this day was coming sooner or later. Legendary Pictures has announced plans to begin laying down foundation for a live adaption of Kōhei Horikoshi’s action comedy superhero manga series My Hero Academia. Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfalter will oversee the project for Legendary, with Ryosuke Yoritomi on behalf of Shuiesha, the publishing company behind the manga. Toho will handle distribution of the film in Japan.
Legendary already has the date of May 10, 2019 set for Detective Pikachu starring Ryan Reynolds as the electric mouse Pokémon. The pic is part of Legendary’s pending move from its current home at Universal back to Warner Bros; Legendary is not reupping its deal with Universal, instead eyeing a six-picture, non-exclusive co-financing and releasing pact at WB.
