Prince Charming and Snow White head North to seek help from the Good Witch.

In the Enchanted World, Snow White and the others make plans to rescue Rumplestiltskin from the Wicked Witch. The same occurs in Storybrooke where Regina determines that the way to break the curse is to get Henry to believe in magic again. Elsewhere, Zelena has captured and issues an ultimatum. Regina and the others make it into Rumplestiltskin’s castle where they find him locked in a cage and ask him how to beat Zelena. Emma and the others begin their search for the storybook. Henry, tired of being kept in the dark, asks Emma for her keys. He then attempts to run away when he is stopped by Hook. Snow White and Prince Charming find the door that leads to the Good Witch of the South, Glinda. Glinda tells them that the only person who can defeat the Wicked Witch is another Light Witch, a witch whose magic comes from love. Snow White surmises that Emma is the Witch of Light. Hook, Henry and Smee are at the dock when they are attacked by the Wicked Witch’s flying monkeys. Emma, Regina and David arrive and deal with the flying monkeys alongside Hook. Afterward, Emma uses the storybook to restore Henry’s memories. Just as she is about to break the curse Zelena takes Henry captive until Emma uses her magic to free him. Back in the Enchanted World, Snow and Charming enact the dark curse.

Regina continues to make a change for the better and she might have a thing with the Prince of Thieves.

The race to put an end to Zelena is underway both in Storybrooke and the Enchanted Forest. Regina, Snow White and Prince Charming search for a way to stop the Wicked Witch. Their search takes them to Glinda, the Good Witch who tells them that the only way to stop Zelena is with the power of another Witch of Light. Well, Emma fits the bill but she’s back in Storybrooke. So how do they get back to her? Conjure up another dark curse, of course. But for once, Regina is against the idea. She very well knows the price that has to be paid for the curse to be invoked. She might be feeling regret for killing her father Henry in order to conjure the previous curse and she doesn’t want Snow White to make the same mistake. Before she wanted nothing more than to see Snow White suffer but now she is beginning to feel a connection with her. Another example is when she sheds tears along with Snow White when Prince Charming gave his life in order to help the curse succeed. This shows how much Regina is changing for the better. She still has her aggressive tendencies but now they are directed at someone who truly deserves it—her sister Zelena. Regina is not inherently evil. She is capable of love and compassion which she has shown throughout the season. She swore to protect Mary Margaret/Snow White and her baby in a previous episode. Now, Regina appears to have had her heart taken by another—Robin Hood. She was always destined to be with him and that seems to be happening now. They are caught by Henry while wrapped in a loving embrace and Regina can’t help contain her newfound affection from Mary Margaret who points this out, to which Regina responds, “And Häagen-Dazs has been smitten with your stomach.” But the clincher of this new, lovable Regina is after Henry memories are restored thanks to the storybook that started it all, her love for him breaks the current curse and restores everyone’s memories. I would wager that the darkness in her heart is starting to become a little brighter.

Someone cue Luther Vandross because the power of love continues with Snow White and Prince Charming. For the past three seasons, we have seen how much they can go through hell and back again (and again and again) and their love just refuses to waver. The true test of this happens when Charming gives his life to conjure the curse set now by Snow White. After Zelena visits them to muck thing up with a memory spell, Snow White begs Regina to split her heart in half in order to revive Charming. Shocking, Regina hesitates and even tries to talk her out of it. However, she does remove Snow White’s heart, splits it in two and places the halves in Snow and Charming, and (Booyah!) it works. This shows that two people who are truly in love are of one heart. Still, Snow took a gamble on this one. She’s just damn lucky it worked.

Well, Henry’s memories are back and he’s back to believing in magic again. It was awkward to see him not getting all sparkly eyed when he sees a magical creature. Henry has been established as an important character and it’s a welcome to have him back.

Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, finally makes an appearance. She is portrayed by Sunny Mabrey.

Like I said at the start at the second half of the season, we were going to meet other denizens of Oz and tonight’s introduction was inevitable. Glinda, the Good Witch of the South, lends a hand in the fight against Zelena. Yes, that is the Good Witch of the South, despite what the 1939 film depicts her as. In the original story, Glinda resided in the south, not the north. Her purpose is also the same; she wants to put an end to the Wicked Witch, whom she was friends with according to her. This aspect likely comes from the recent telling of the classic L. Frank Baum tale with the 2013 film “Oz: The Great and Powerful” and the stage musical “Wicked”. From this, expect a backstory to show Glinda and Zelena as good pals.
