Dragon Ball Super Broly is starting strong in it’s first week of release. The anime film based on the action manga series created by Akira Toriyama has sold more than one million tickets as of Wednesday, six days after it premiered December 14 in Japan. It has already made $1.4 billion yen.
The film sold over 800,000 tickets and crested the one million yen in it’s first three days. Toei animation predicts the film will make more than 5 billion yen.
Akira Toriyama wrote the script for Dragon Ball Super Broly and designed the characters. Tatsuya Nagamine served as director with Naohiro Shintami as animation director and Norihito Sumitomo as art director.
Dragon Ball Super Broly premieres in North America and Canada on January 16. It is set after the events of the Dragon Ball Super TV anime.
