If you have been waiting for new info about the next installment in Square Enix’s long running RPG franchise, then pack your patience. According to producer Naoki Yoshida, the spread of COVID19 has complicated things at Square Enix and development of Final Fantasy XVI has been slowed down, pushing the reveal date of new info regarding the title to Spring 2022. The team has originally planned to release the new info in 2021. Alas, that is no longer the case.
Yoshida posted on the game’s official Twitter page about the delay:
Sqaure Enix plans to release Final Fantasy XVI on the PlayStation 5 as an exclusive title. No word on a PC release.
