Aonir my dear, welcome to your COSPLAY SPOTLIGHT!!!!!
Why do you cosplay?
I love to be someone else for at least one day! And, of course, I like to sew and design stuff on my own.
Its a very creative Hobby where you can use different kinds of materials.
What was your first cosplay?
My first Cosplay was Rinoa Heartilly from Final Fantasy 8 in 2003. (omg its already 10 years ago!) But
I’m still proud about it.
Do you make your own cosplay costumes, if so, which ones, and how long does an average costume take to make?
All of my Costumes are self-made (well, there are 2 exceptions). Its really hard to say how long it takes…it depends on how diligent I am haha! But a normal sewed average Cosplay takes 1-2 Weeks.
What is your favorite character to play?
Hm, so far I liked all the characters I made! But I guess Holo and Captain Liliana are my top two. Holo
because I really like the Anime and her dressses. I’m so in love with Animal-Ears!
Captain Liliana was very special to me, I think its one of my best costumes I ever made and I have never been
so satisfied with a costume.
Amongst animation, comics, movies, or video games, what is your biggest inspiration for cosplay?
I see an inspiration in every genre. There are always beautiful or lovely made Costumes I would like to wear/make on my own. For example in 2013 my focus will be on game Characters before my costumes were mainly from an Anime I guess.
Have you ever made any mistakes that you’d warn a first timer about?
Well, I didnt make a mistake but I got an advice:
Cosplay is an expensive Hobby which needs also a lot of time. A beginner should start with an
easier Costume first, to try their sewing skills out, else you will only get depressed. And very
important: if you cosplay a Character with a short Skirt, always wear double underwear and take care
of perverse photographer who wants to take a panty shot.
Are there certain characters that are easier to play than others?
I dont think that there are ‘easier’ characters. Every Character has their own difficulties even when there
are hidden. Sometimes its really surprising how difficult a Cosplay is, which looked so easy makeable first.
