So for those of you who were looking forward to seeing the next installment of the Borderland story at E3 this year,…well, reach for a nice tall glass of patience and take a swig. Gearbox has said that they will not be showing Borderlands 3 at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo, according to Shack News. Six years have passed since the release of “Borderlands 2” in 2012. The title was a success, selling over 12 million copies. Since then, Gearbox has released a “prequel” and a collection set of remastered editions of “Borderlands” and “Borderlands 2.” Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed during a press conference that “Borderlands 3” will not be shown at E3 2018. Gearbox first revealed that a fourth entry in the main “Borderlands” series was in the works in 2016. However, the company has been working on other projects, placing the game on the back burner.
In a related report, Walmart Canada placed several unannounced video game titles on their website for pre-order, including “Borderlands 3.” Other A-list games include “Gears of War 5,” “Lego DC Villains,” Just Cause 4,” and “Rage 2.” It also listed announced titles like “Beyond Good & Evil 2” and “Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.” The listings have since been removed; however, only one remained true. “Rage 2”, developed by Bethesda, is indeed getting a sequel and has released an official trailer this week.
