Charlie returns home to Willoughby with Monroe in tow. The Texas Rangers ride into Willoughby to drive out the Patriots but they come to terms without a shot being fired. Miles gets reacquainted with an old friend from his past John Franklin Fry. Miles sees him as a chance to take down the Patriots but Fry needs some persuasion. Outside, Miles meets up with Charlie who returns home another friend Sebastian Monroe. There is no enthusiasm in their reunion. Miles reluctantly agrees to work with Monroe to end the Patriots. After learning from Cynthia that Aaron has left, Rachel finds him at a place full of boats where he goes to clear his head. Aaron struggles to make sense of what happening with him. Neville escorts Secretary Allenford back to Washington, D.C. when their caravan is suddenly attacked. Neville defends Allenford and gets her to safety only to discover that she has been injured. Neville asks about the group that attacked them. Allenford tells him that they are a part of a movement for a reprogramming center which she opposed. Thinking her as a traitor, Neville turns to leave her when she tells him that Jason is at a facility where the deadly program called the Reaper Camp is held. Neville agrees to help her in order to get Jason back.

revolution_2-5_monroe_charlieElsewhere, Miles, Monroe and Charlie search for proof of the Patriot’s deception for John when they are ambushed. Miles and Monroe come up with a plan. With Charlie providing cover fire, they put it into motion. They systematically take out the soldiers. Miles finds out one of the soldiers worked for Titus. Rachel tries to convince Aaron to return to Willoughby when he has a vision. This leads them to Miles who is with Monroe and Charlie. Rachel is less than happy to see Monroe. Miles gets everyone to hide. John shows up to see Miles’ proof. Unfortunately, the soldier commits suicide using a cyanide pill. Seeing that the plan has failed, Monroe shoots John in the back. He intends to blame the Patriots for John’s death thus starting a war between Texas and the Patriots.

Miles meets with a Texas Ranger named John Franklin Fry who may be the tactical advantage he needs to take down the Patriots. Jim Beaver portrays the tough-as-nails Texas Ranger John Franklin Fry, who is not a far cry from his “Supernatural” character Bobby Singer. Jim fit well into the mold. Too bad his moment in the sun is snuffed out. I would’ve liked to see more of him. The Texas Rangers are now the biggest army since the destruction of Philadelphia and Atlanta. Miles knows that if he is going to find out the truth about the Patriots he is going to need help. John tells him to bring proof of the Patriots’ deception as he is hesitant in lending his assistance given Miles’ past with the Monroe Republic. Miles begins his search for the proof he needs when he runs into Charlie who brings a surprise guest—Sebastian Monroe. Miles is not happy to see his former best friend. The last he saw of Monroe was when they fought and Miles left him to his own fate. There is no love from Miles as he describes Monroe as black hole that he has crawled out of and will not go back. Monroe still has an itch for a good fight whereas Miles has moved past those days which lead to an (even more) unsteady alliance. However, Miles has to put up with Monroe if he wants the Texas Rangers’ help in usurping the Patriots. The potential for teamwork between them is illustrated when they are ambushed at a train yard by Patriot soldiers. Using a tactic from their days in the military and the Monroe Republic, they take out the soldiers systematically while Charlie, who has no idea what her uncle and Monroe are talking about when they are naming cities, provides cover fire. However, Miles’ plan is soon throw a severe curve when the Patriot soldier, who Miles remembers worked for Titus Andover, kills himself with a cyanide pill. John Fry, who arrived to see Miles’ proof, tells him that he cannot call his boss to allow the Rangers to help him. It is then that Monroe shoots Fry and pins the murder on the Patriots. Whether Miles likes it or not, the war between the Rangers and the Patriots (no pun intended) will, without a doubt, kickoff (again, no pun) if Monroe’s crazy plan works.

Revolution - Season 2Aaron is having a hard time dealing with the visions he has had and the soldiers he made go up in flames. Feeling that he may pose a danger to Cynthia, he leaves and goes to a place where he can get his head straight. Rachel finds him and tries to get him to come back. That is when Aaron tells her that this is not the first time he barbequed someone. Five months ago while walking through the same graveyard of yachts and other nautical attire, he stumbles upon Cynthia’s then-husband having an affair. The husband attacks Aaron, telling him not to say a word to Cynthia. This angers Aaron and, while he walks away, the car they are in suddenly bursts into flames. But just before that event occurs, a high luminescent firefly floats by. The insects, the nanites and Aaron’s strange new ability are all connected somehow. What exactly happened in the Tower that has yet to be told? And why is only Aaron affected? Whatever it is, Rachel and Aaron are going to have a heck of a time figuring it out. But before their journey for the truth begins, Aaron has another vision. They arrive at the building that Aaron saw where they encounter Monroe. Rachel has less love for Monroe than Miles does and she is quick to pick right where she left off. She aims a machine gun at him ready to avenge her son Danny who was killed by one of the Monroe Republic’s helicopters that was powered by the amplifier she was forced to build. It seemed that not even Miles interference was going to deter her when she refused to put down the weapon. She finally does when Charlie tells her that Monroe is going to help them. It does not need to be said that this turns Rachel’s stomach. The thought of allying with her son’s killer must be sickening to her. Her last moment with Monroe was when she held a grenade while in his tent with the intention of blowing her and him to kingdom come. There is no doubt that Monroe’s presence will put a huge wall of tension between everyone. They say “keep your friends close and your enemies closer” but with a ‘frenemy’ like Monroe around, he will be watched like a hawk—namely Rachel.

Revolution - Season 2Speaking of trust issues, Secretary Allenford still has a problem with Neville as she is fully aware of his service in the Monroe Republic militia. When she is injured while on her way back to the Washington, D.C., Neville defends her only to use her to find out the whereabouts of his son Jason. Seeing this as an opportunity to jump start his plan of destroying the Patriots, Neville sets to leave Allenford to die from her injury as punishment for being a traitor until she tells him about Jason being taken to the reprogramming center. Tom has no other choice but to help Allenford if he wants to find his son. Just she is with him, he is well aware of how deceitful the Government and its people really are. No doubt he will be keeping Justine on a very short leash.
