The creepy, cooky family is making a comeback to television in a new series! According to Deadline, plans for a new Addams Family TV series are being worked out and that the series will be handled by Tim Burton. With hit films that blend the scary and the humor such as “Beetlejuice”, “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride,” Burton is without a doubt the right choice. Tim Burton is reported to be in talks about being executive producer and directing all the episodes. Smallville executive producers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will be head writers and showrunners for the series. MGM TV is financing to project which is said to have multiple buyers eyeing the series. Netflix is among those buyers and would be the most likely venue.
The new Addams Family is said to be set in the modern day with the focus on Wednesday Addams as she tries to adjust to the world around her.
The Addams Family has found success in two live action movie adaptions starring Raul Julia, Angelica Huston and Christopher Lloyd, a 90s animated series and 2019 animated film released by MGM with a sequel planned for 2021. The mysterious and spooky family were created by cartoonist Charles Addams and first appeared as comic strips in 1938 in The New Yorker.
